Denim Jackets Fall 2013 Fashion Trend

Posted by Administrator on 7/15/2013 to Style News

In case you haven't noticed, denim jackets are a wardrobe stable this season and a 2013 Fall fashion trend. Many of the top denim designers such as Maison Martin Margiela, DSquared2, Diesel, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Varvatos, True Religion, Helmut Lang, J Brand Jeans, Escada, 7 For All Mankind, Rags and Bones, Joe's Jeans, Ralph Lauren, Akris, Marc Jacobs, Adriano Goldschmied, Paign Denim, and Helmet Lang have all included stylish denim jackets in their current and upcoming fall collections. However, this new denim trend is unlike that of years past in regards to each denim jacket being its own entity. In the past denim jackets were done using the same dye lot to create a matching pant and jacket. I for one am happy with the current denim trend because it lets savvy shoppers combine their own looks. You can combine dark denim with light denim or even rock a pant that is in a different fabric altogether. Mixing and matching a denim jacket with a flirty skirt, or even leggings create great looks.

Celebrity Fashion - Stars Wearing Denim Jackets

Even celebrities from Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Cameron Diaz and other entertainment royalty has been seen endearing designer denim jackets. Fashion Designers and Lines are combining different washes and fabrics to create distinctive pieces. Whether it is an acid wash or bleached spotted treatment, denim jackets have never looked better.

I'm reminded about my first denim jacket. It was from Guess Jeans. To make it different, I had it airbrushed with a design I drew plus I had rhinestones put on it. It was a magnificent piece. In fact, it was my first adventure into fashion design. It was a hit at school as I was stopped and complimented all the time even by upper classmen whom as we know only speak to freshmen on the as needed basis lol. Even then I would wear my denim jacket with various bottoms that didn't match. So based on my history with denim jackets you can see why I'm happy to see this trend return. For new designers opportunities always exist to put your own twist on a new fashion trend and make an exciting piece or collection. It also helps to work within trends because that is what many retailers are already looking for.

The denim jacket below was designed by me using Digital Fashion Pro and some denim fabrics from the Digital Fabric Library. I made the made body of the jacket out of acid wash denim. I made the sleeves out of a pink camouflage.

Yes, I had been noticing as well a lot of retailers carrying a variety of denim jackets. It gave me the first clue they were in style. Being a designer myself, I have designed a few in my arsenal.
